Friday
We dedicated Friday to learning a bit more about Norwegian Art across the centuries. To do that, we visited four branches of the Bergen National Museum (Kode + Bergen Kunsthall). After a historical cross-section of Norwegian artists’ work, we enjoyed meeting with a British artist, based in Norway, Samuel Brzeski.
He gave us an artist’s talk about his latest work, an audiovisual multi-channel installation entitled How Good It’s Not Me, followed by a lively conversation about his influences, methods of art and the general topic of text in art.
We also wanted to have a peek at artist studios in the former sardine factory. It was interesting for us as an example of appropriation of space after a discontinuation of some social or municipal function. We wanted to explore and see how a former sardine factor was transformed into a vibrant artists’ city section.
Finally, in the evening, we had a chance to share some insights about our faculty, performance studio and the Faculty’s Foundation with the members of Performance Art Bergen at Hordaland Kunstsenter.
